Commit 236208a5ff ("transport: use a bitmask for the transport")
has an incorrect C statement in place of a return.
The code is working thanks to the previous condition never true.
The issue has been detected by clang scan-build in OpenOCD ACI
since the missing return can make the following statement
dereferencing a NULL pointer.
Fix it!

The transport used on adapter's wires is either 'jtag' or 'swd'
but, depending on the adapter, in the command 'transport select'
we have to use either 'jtag' or 'swd' or the similar 'hla_jtag',
'hla_swd', 'dapdirect_jtag' or 'dapdirect_swd'.
This becomes cumbersome when we just want to change adapter and we
get forced to modify the 'transport select' command too.
There is no reason for an adapter driver to support two of the
similar transports. In fact 'dapdirect' one is a superset of the
'hla', and the native 'jtag' or 'swd' is a superset of the
'dapdirect' one.
While the adapter could support more than one similar transports,
its adapter driver should only support the most complete of these
similar transports.
Modify the 'transport select' code to accept 'jtag' or 'swd' for
the 'dapdirect' and the 'hla' adapters too.
Issue a deprecated message for the old 'dapdirect' and 'hla'
transport names.
In command 'transport list', print only the transport names that
can be selected through 'transport select' skipping information
about 'dapdirect' and 'hla' versions and avoid duplicated entries.
This improvement was listed in the TODO file. Update it!

Verify that it contains only valid transports.
While JTAG and SWD are the more permissive transports, the
respective 'dapdirect' versions are slightly limited, and the
respective 'hla' versions are even more limited.
A driver should not provide two version of the same transport.
Verify that only one JTAG and only one SWD transport is present.
Verify that the preferred transport is valid too.

In every driver, replace the array of strings with a bitmask that
lists the supported transports.
Add an extra field to carry the former first listed transport as a
"preferred" transport. It would be used as default when no command
'transport select' is used. This keeps backward compatibility with
scripts that do not define the transport, relying on such default.

Move the transport's names in a local array in the transport
framework.
Replace the string struct transport::name, that identifies the
transport, with a bitmask where each bit corresponds to one of the
available transports.

Historically, if the user does not specify a transport, OpenOCD
select automatically the first transport listed in the adapter
driver.
This auto-selection can behave differently by changing adapter,
so the transport should be enforced in the configuration file.
Deprecate the auto-selection and print a warning message when a
transport gets auto-selected.
There are two cases:
- adapter offers one transport only. The code early auto-selects
the transport but does not print anything. If later the user
selects the transport then no deprecation will be printed during
'transport init';
- user runs 'transport select', e.g. in 'swj-dp' script, and this
triggers the auto-selection and the deprecated message.

The commit 93f2afa45f ("initial "transport" framework") that
added the transport framework in 2010 was overly optimistic on the
possibility to dynamically add, at runtime, a new adapter and to
specify with the command 'adapter transports' the list of the
transports supported by the new adapter.
Such feature has never become part of OpenOCD, and the command
above has never become useful nor ever been used.
Drop the command 'adapter transports' and its documentation.
Drop the helper 'transport_list_parse', now unused.

The mixed use of jim commands and OpenOCD commands is error prone
due to handling of errors through JIM_xx and ERROR_yy.
Rewrite the jim command 'transport select' as OpenOCD command.
This fixes and incorrect check for the return value of function
transport_select(); it returns ERROR_yy but the check is on JIM_xx.
While there, fix the coding style.

With the old checkpatch we cannot use the correct format for the

Replace the FSF boilerplate with the SPDX tag.
The SPDX tag on files *.c is incorrect, as it should use the C99

Remove a use of AH_BOTTOM from configure.ac. This macro is used by
autoheader to add '#include' of some include file to the end of
config.h.in and then to config.h. OpenOCD can be built with a custom
config.h, so it's preferable to move these '#include' statement directly
in the C files that need them dropping this unneeded dependency.
It also causes problems when I want to use the gnulib library (which
comes with its own Makefile, and does not have the same include path as
the top-level Makefile).
So this change touches a lot of files, but is actually really simple. It
does not affect functionality at all.

With zy1000 removed, there is no other implementation that uses
the minidriver, apart from the test/example minidriver-dummy.
While the idea of the minidriver is probably still valid (that is
to intercept jtag primitives before serialization), there is no
current use case, no guarantee it is really working, and the way
it was implemented (by macros and #if conditionals) is really hard
to maintain and test.
Let's let it rip in git history, from where it could eventually be
taken back in a more modern implementation.
The entry points of minidriver API are still in the code with the
original names.

Commit 462c012066 ("Add complete JTAG debug logging.") breaks
the build for minidriver, that is enabled either on zy1000 build
and on minidriver-dummy build. The check on BUILD_ZY1000 was added
to pass the auto-build in jenkins. While the build issue with
minidriver-dummy was known, as reported in the comment, it was not
addressed and got ignored for slightly more than one year.
Use the macro HAVE_JTAG_MINIDRIVER_H in place of BUILD_ZY1000 to
take in account both builds that require the minidriver.
Fix also the build in case configure enables the HLA drivers due
to autodetection of libusb. The HLA drivers would not be in the
build and the function transport_is_hla() would be missing.

Add SWIM and STM8 to documentation and update TODO file.
Introduce transport "swim" and command "swim newtap".
Switch in swim.c from HLA API to the new SWIM API.
Implement in stlink driver the SWIM APIs as wrappers of existing
HLA functions.
Remove any SWIM related reference from HLA files.
Update stm8 config files and stlink-dap interface config file.

In a switch/case statement, a break placed after a goto or return
is never executed.
The script checkpatch available in Linux kernel v5.1 issues a
warning for such unused break statements.
In the process of reviewing the new checkpatch for its inclusion
in OpenOCD, let's get rid of these warnings.
The script checkpatch is unable to fixup automatically this case.
Thanks to having "break" command using a single code line, this
patch has been generated using the script below:

Some high level adapters, like STLINK-V3 and new firmware for
ST-Link/V2, provide API to directly access the DAP registers
hiding the details of the physical transport JTAG or SWD.
OpenOCD has already the intermediate API in struct dap_ops that
are suitable for such adapters, but are not exposed to the
adapter drivers.
Add in struct adapter_driver two independent struct dap_ops for
the cases of physical JTAG and SWD transport.
Add new transport names "dapdirect_jtag" and "dapdirect_swd", to
be used by the drivers that provide one or both DAP API.
Add the necessarily glue in target/adi_v5_dapdirect.c

To prepare for handling TCL return values consistently, all calls
to command_print/command_print_sameline should switch to CMD as
first parameter.
Change prototype of command_print() and command_print_sameline()
to pass CMD instead of CMD_CTX.
Since the first parameter is currently not used, the change can be
done though scripts without manual coding.
This patch is created using the command:

This should allow most of the existing configurations for older
versions to remain compatible without forcing the user to change his
or her config to explicitly select transport.
Also in some circumstances can remove the need to chain a "-c transport
select X" when building custom configs on the command line, which seems
like a common new user pitfall.

Currently if we have multiple transport's defined we receive an warning similar to:
must select a transport.

This removes that warning and only prints this info if transport_init fails.
